Full Bloom Festival
The Full Bloom Film Festival is an annual celebration of independent cinema held in Statesville, North Carolina. This community-driven event brings together filmmakers, artists, and audiences from both local and international backgrounds to showcase a wide variety of films—from documentaries and shorts to narratives and experimental pieces. Screenings take place throughout downtown Statesville in historic venues, creating an immersive and cultural experience for attendees. The festival’s name, Full Bloom, represents the flourishing of artistic voices and the blossoming of creative expression. It’s not just about watching films—it’s about experiencing stories that inspire, challenge, and bring people together.

For my redesign of the Full Bloom Film Festival, I aimed to create a modern, inclusive, and visually vibrant identity that celebrates the creativity and diversity of independent filmmaking. The reimagined logo merges a bold, geometric sans-serif typeface with colorful graphic elements including a stylized camera lens and a blooming flower, symbolizing both cinema and the festival’s name. The film reel looping through the design adds movement and visual rhythm, while the saturated primary colors convey energy, creativity, and approachability. In the poster design, I employed bold contrast, clean hierarchy, and strong alignment. The use of navy as the dominant background color grounds the composition, while arrows, geometric shapes, and halftone-style dot patterns add visual texture and guide the viewer’s eye. The clear call-to-action—“Scan this QR Code to connect to our survey!”—is supported by intentional typographic contrast between condensed, all-caps headers and slightly rounded body text for a friendly yet professional tone. The poster design balances visual impact with usability, encouraging community engagement and feedback.
